Preston Hood Field 10 = KENDALL
With the softball community being close knit, I’m sure many of you have been following the devastating news of Karli Payne. Karli was a member of the Louisville Lady Sluggers 13U Clark team that is one of the teams playing in the USSSA Road to the Beach (14U-16U-18U) National July 17-23.
We are still working out some details, but we plan to do a special tribute to Karli Payne during that event. To begin with, you will see on the schedule, that Field 1 at the Preston Hood Complex will be labeled as KARLI – 1 in honor of Karli’s jersey #1.
This field is located at the Hollywood Blvd entrance to the complex and we encourage any teams that wish to show their support for the family and the Louisville Lady Sluggers 13U Clark team to bring supporting posters or banners, to hang along the fence of that field.
Karli’s father Jerry is one of the coaches of the team and we’re told he will finish out the year helping coach the girls, including here at Nationals as that is what Karli would want.

It is with much sadness that we pass along the news of yet another unfortunate incident concerning a player whose team is playing in the USSSA Road to the Beach (14U-16U-18U) National next week along with your team.
Kendall Johnson - 15 year old, member of St Louis Heat 04 Zimmer 18U was tragically killed in a boating accident on Sunday afternoon - July 10th.

This field is located at the Jet Drive to the complex and we encourage any teams that wish to show their support for the family and the St Louis Heat team to bring supporting posters or banners, to hang along the fence of that field.
